What does Jesus say are the results of doing the things that please Him?

I've always been happiest when obeying the principles of the gospel as outlined in the Bible, and least fulfilled when I have been unable or unwilling to do so. I recently lived in a community where every waking moment was spent serving others, and I was deeply fulfilled there despite working fifteen hours a day with no free/personal time because I was confident that sacrificing my selfish interests in order to meet the needs of those around me was pleasing to my Creator. I got more joy from serving others than I ever did having an abundance of leisure time. The problem for me is maintaining that same zeal on my own outside of a structured, communal religious environment.
