How long does a cold virus last?

I've been sick for over 2 weeks now. I have congestion, sore throat, fullness in my ears and a hacking cough. I did have white pus sacks on my tonsils, which I believe are gone. I did a rapid strep test twice and it was negative. Shouldn't a cold virus be done w/me by now?
