Good background for a charcoal drawing?

I'm applying for a fine arts scholarship to a local prep school for my freshman year; earning the scholarship money will be the only way my family can afford it. Along with a portrait and a work in any medium, we also have to submit a still life with three objects. So I have drawn three little glass bottles, each slightly different than the others in size and shape. They look great, but I also need to draw the surface they are placed on, and the background. I considered drawing a rustic-looking table with rough, characteristic wood, but I don't know what I could do for the background... Any suggestions are appreciated!

Why do people say one thing and then say something totally different later?

So aggravating....My spouse will say one thing and then say the complete opposite later. Ex: We were talking about getting a second home, as a vacation home, so we found one that we both agreed we liked and were talking about submitting an offer. He began telling me how "we have been talking about this for sometime now and we knew we were going to do this eventually". He was all excited and talking about what a great deal it was and didn't want to pass it up. Let's do it he says!Later we were with some friends talking about the home and he says "We are not buying a home in that area." I was shocked. After a week passes we meet with a realtor and submit our offer.....The next evening we have a disagreement about something totally unrelated and he tells me "You pushed me into signing that offer, I told you I did not want to it". I have told him several times that if he felt uncomfortable in any way that we did not have to make an offer. Seriously, I could take it or leave it. I am just confused as to why he is constantly taking back what he says.

I have a similar problem as well. Even though I sing from my diaphragm, my singing voice still doesn't sound strong and when I try to sing songs that has a lot of "oomph" in it, I end up failing. For example, I suck at trying to sing Kelly Clarkson's Natural Woman because my vocals aren't strong, and I just end up sounding like I'm yelling or shrieking instead of singing. It's why I tend to stick to singing songs that my voice can actually handle.

20 year old with permenant hearing damage from shooting firearms?

Hey everyone. Over the course of the last 6 months, I took around 8/9 shots of .40S&W, and just this past Wednesday, 3 shots of .380ACP with no hearing protection (some of the times I did have a hood up though). I have experienced "fullness" in my ears since then, but it is going away. However, when I laid down Thursday night, I noticed a ringing in my ears & I'm afraid it can be Tinnitus. I did some reading & I want to cry. I've always used earplugs, but these few times I just made a stupid decision. I know that gun shots can & will destroy your hearing if unprotected, but I had no idea that just a few shots can. I mean, you hear about soldiers having Tinnitus, but that's after battle & hundreds (if not thousands) of rounds fired. I have a hard time believing & accepting that I destroyed my ears from these few incidents, and very few shots. Music is my life (Rap, Hip Hop) and I'm worried I'll never hear the beats the same way again. Is it as serious as I'm making myself believe it is? I also have severe anxiety & stress, which isn't making things any better. I'm 20 years old, and I can't accept that I did my hearing in from a few shots, I just can't. Please tell me I'm worrying over something that will pass. I do have a doctor appt this coming week, I'm just trying to find some comfort in this & reassure myself everything's going to be alright. Wanting some work done-but what should I do first?

I am by no means rich but I have struggled with my appearance for years. There are a few things I'd like to fix/improve. I need opinions on which surgery I should have first. First of all, at the beginning of the year I weighed over 200 pounds. Now I weight about 150 and at 5'1 I have about 50 more pounds. That is important because my weight influences the fullness of my cheeks, face etc. I would like a nose job, bletheraplasty, chin and cheek implants and a lip reduction. I have been dealing with a medical issue since Dec. 2009 and all types of test have been performed and nobody can figure out what is going on. It started with flu-like symptoms and diarrhea. I am currently out on medical leave because I can't consume enough food to sustain me through the day. I have experienced weight loss, discoloration of my tongue, along with peeling and irritation at times. I have no appetite, don't even get hungry just weak and nauseated most of the time. My quality of life is "none" and it's just beginning to be a little much. My doctor is trying to treat the symptoms and the underlying cause is just going undetermined. When I do eat I get an immediate feeling of fullness. Yes, I have had 3 colonoscopies and 2 endoscopy's and a battery of blood work. They keep telling me nothing is showing up but I'm wondering that if something is off just a little if that could be enough to throw things off whack. I don't know. Just looking for some help out there. If you are a doctor or know of one please respond. I am a 44 year old female and mother of 3 and I don't want this to go on and then one day they find something that's going to be at the worst stage and nothing can be done. Dog had a little paprika?

I had made something that I thought would be okay for my dog, sweet potatoes. But I didn't know Paprika was bad for dogs. Hi just wonderin about other womens experiences on this... 7 may 2011 was my last period had intercourse on 20 may -26 may (TTC and I was ovulating then) havent had my period yet im not due on that for another 4 days but im experiencing on and off again lower back pain, breat tenderness/fullness, nausea, increase in vag. discharge (TMI I know), headaches and these symptoms are not all constant I had d&c 29 june 2010 and removal of cysts on 8 apr 2011 my doc said it should be faster to get pregnant but on 2 jun 2011 my test was positive and I took another one 3 jun 2011 and that was negative coukd I possibly be pregnant? My fiance and I want this soo bad we are tired of disappointments. We would love to be pregnant. Have been having a "unsteady", head fullness feeling for 7 months now.. HELP!?

My head feels full, and my glands are swollen, daily headache, fatigue, pressure behind my eyes and sort of a dizzy feeling for the past 7 months STRAIGHT! Unfortunately, I started wearing bra late and it rendered them less perky than a 20 year old girl, who has never gotten engaged in any sexual activity should have. You really need to go to the doctor, it will only get worse. I had one on my butt cheek, and when a male doctor walked in I was so worried. I have not had unprotected sex, my boyfriend uses a condom and checks it each time and I use birth control (YAZ) although admittedly not at the same time each day, within a few hours or so at the most. I live in a flat and there is a communal garden. There are several cats who come in the garden and poop all over the place. I am not going to go out and poopascoop cat poop! Guinea pig biting. HELP!?

I've had a guinea pig named sprinkles for about 2 months now. other than lately, she was a very sweet and gentle guinea pig. I've had guinea pigs before, but never had this problem. she's rather young, but kinda fat. if you go around her chin or stomach, she bites you. and sometimes even if your just sitting there. and it's not a nibble, it's a full on bite. To punish her for this, I don't hit her, but i put her back in the cage until she calms down. Also, if you take her out of the cage and sit her on the floor to run around (which I never do unless I'm with her to make sure she doesn't eat anything bad or get into trouble!). Sand resist in watercolor?

Several years ago I learned how to use sand to illustrate a weathered stucco wall in the South of France. It involved wetting the paper (just water, or a light wash?), sprinkling sand (let it dry, or continue wet?) and dropping in other colors. Ask your doctor to give you a Blood test for pregnancy; it is more accurate than urine pregnancy tests. If the Blood test comes out negative you can ask for an ultrasound too. What symptoms do you have of thyroid problems?

I have the same and I generally find I can't concentrate very well, I feel the cold a lot and I'm more tired. My GP told me this was caused by it. Apparently it causes slowness in the mind and that's why I find it hard to concentrate. I find that it does tend to affect my life in a lot of ways because of the sorts of things it causes but I'm quite good at working around it now :)

Can Xanex help with caffeine withdrawal symptoms?

I was an excessive caffeine person (5 cups of iced tea, 2 cups of coffee and chocolate daily for 5 years). I stopped cold turkey and have had inner tremors, with daily headaches, rapid heart rate and dizzy. I had a panic attack the day before I cut out all caffeine (because I thought that was the cause). I had blood work, an ECHO, chest xray, EKG...all normal and was told it was anxiety and was given xanex. Most of the time I am not even thinking about anything when my heart starts racing and I get jittery. It is either me being afraid of having another panic attack or caffeine withdrawal...I don't think I would develop a panic disorder over night. But the Xanex does help me when I get those jittery, dizzy symptoms (I only need one .25mg when needed). Is it possible that Xanex could reduce the symptoms of caffeine withdrawal????????? The other symptoms I have that I don't think is common with caffeine withdrawal is...red spots in eyes especially when looking at computer screen that follows my eyes as I move them (noticed just today), white spots (floaters), semi blurred vision that I have never had before, lightheaded, heart beats really funny right when i open my eyes in the morning, heat intolerance (that I never had before my panic attack a month ago), heart skips beats, lower back pain, acid reflux, I have PCOS and hidratenitis superrateva (HS), I have had a low grade fever in the last month which I never get fevers, spotting when my period is not even close, sharp pain for belly button down, constant lower abdominal fullness, sharp pains under my left breast (like under my rib) sometimes...I just want to be normal again! I am a 27 year old female with a 2 year old son...I was normal a month ago and now I am not and I am frustrated!!!!! Please any thoughts!???!?!?! The PCOS, HS, acid reflux, spotting and sharp pain from belly button down are the only things that i have had prior to the panic attack. Everything else appeared the day after the attack which was the same day i cut out all caffeine.

Could I possibly have TMJ?

Lately I have been having a lot of ear problems. I have extreme fullness in my ears, it feels like they are full of water. They won't really pop that much either. I do have some pain in my ears but it's not to bad. Also my ears kind of have an itchy feeling like deep down in my ear. I was looking online and saw that ear problems can be associated with TMJ. I had my ears checked and the DR. said there wasn't an infection. I do have some of things associated with TMJ like joint pain every once in awhile and I also grind my teeth at night (my boyfriend says its so loud that he can hear it). Is there a way to grow my hair longer?

Ok so ive always had short hair. My freaking haircut is always so goddamn regular. Number 2 and clean up the edges...sucks. Also because its so short i use body wash not shampoo to wash my hair. The end result is my hair has dandruff and i believe split ends. But ive tried growing it out before and it goes into a curly freaking weirdness. But this time i want to really grow it out. So is there steps to increase the fullness and make it healthier so it can grow faster...well not so much faster but rather consistent? Would it take longer because ive always had short hair? Please help me, I'm afraid I have permanent Tinnitus & hearing loss?

Hey everyone. Over the course of the last 6 months, I took around 8/9 shots of .40S&W, and just this past Wednesday, 3 shots of .380ACP with no hearing protection (some of the times I did have a hood up though). I have experienced "fullness" in my ears since then, but it is going away. However, when I laid down Thursday night, I noticed a ringing in my ears & I'm afraid it can be Tinnitus. I did some reading & I want to cry. I've always used earplugs, but these few times I just made a stupid decision. I know that gun shots can & will destroy your hearing if unprotected, but I had no idea that just a few shots can. I mean, you hear about soldiers having Tinnitus, but that's after battle & hundreds (if not thousands) of rounds fired. I have a hard time believing & accepting that I destroyed my ears from these few incidents, and very few shots. Music is my life (Rap, Hip Hop) and I'm worried I'll never hear the beats the same way again. Is it as serious as I'm making myself believe it is? I also have severe anxiety & stress, which isn't making things any better. I'm 20 years old, and I can't accept that I did my hearing in from a few shots, I just can't. Please tell me I'm worrying over something that will pass. I do have a doctor appt this coming week, I'm just trying to find some comfort in this & reassure myself everything's going to be alright. What's wrong with my dog?

Alright, his name is Max. The idiots that had him before us gave him heartworm. He went through treatment, recovered, and was doing alright. That's when we adopted him. He is older, although they don't know his exact age. Recently, he has gotten better at walking (he could barely walk a half-mile before), and is now walking one mile loops five days of the week (give or take). Unfortunately, he has also gained some weight, and while he weighed about eighty-five pounds when we got him, he now weighs about 115 pounds (I know). We've been working to help him lose weight by no longer sprinkling grated treats onto his food, as that was the only way that he would eat it dry (we used cans and dry food before this, hence the big weight gain). We've also eliminated the unnecessary snacks and food given to him. He's lost a few pounds so far. So anyway, today when Max woke up, he seemed tired. More tired than usual (he's a black lab). There was also a small spot of pee on his bed. Max has never done anything like this before, and has always had a bladder capable of withstanding long hours of not going. While Max usually follows you around to see what you're doing, today he just followed you and sprawled out. He has also been breathing heavily for short periods of time and has just appeared to have lost most of his energy. About three weeks ago, Max went to the vet. He tested negative for heartworm, and very other testable disease except for the one involving tall grass, which we didn't get. So, any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated as we are all worried for Max. Some additional details that may be helpful are: Max is still doing normal things throughout the day, just not as quickly or energetically as usual, and Max is also less interested in food (although it's hard to say because he hasn't liked food much anyway do to the lack of cans/treats on it),

How can I PERMANENTLY eliminate cat urine odors from carpets?

I inherited my parent's house. My mom had up to 11 cats at one time. While most used litter boxes (and the two that are still there are fairly clean cats), there were a few that would go anywhere BUT the litter boxes. Now, no matter how much I shampoo the carpets, sprinkle with Carpet Fresh and spray with Febreeze, the cat odors return with what seems a vengeance in a day or two. This is killing my estate tag sales and probably also would when I go to sell the house. Really worried about my brother, needs serious help?

Okay so my brother is almost 20 years old and I am 18. Through his life he never had many friends, was over weight, and got made fun of at school. This started at a young age. He was always a closed off person, not showing much expression except for anger, and he never wanted to talk about his emotions. Then, a couple months ago, he came to me and told be that he has extream anxiety and depression. I knew this all along becuase he never made friends, always stayed inside in the basement and played video games ALL day. I knew he had been unhappy, but he never wanted to talk about it. SO we went to the doctor and he got put on depression pills and pills to help him sleep. He said they are helping, but he is not changing. He might feel better on the inside but he stil acts the same. Never does anything but watch t.v. and play video games, doesnt meet people, work out, or anything. He recently ran out of the pills he is taking and he is very nervous without them. I dont want him to be so reliant on them. I want him to find the fullness of life without pills, but he claims they are really helping. I can see why he is depressed, becuase he doesnt do anything with his life and i have told him that many times.Me and my mother have tried so many times to tell him to start working out and meeting people but he just doesnt do it. Me and my mother cry and worry about him everyday and i would give anything to make him happy but he isnt doing anything about it. I want his life to have meaning, i want him to have a girlfriend and friends but i am loosing hope. What should i do?

If an attorney submits an incorrect final order then what?

After a long drawn out process my ex and I finally came to an agreement. We put the agreement on record with the family court, and both dismissed any further pleadings against the other. Now his attorney submitted the order, but seemingly left out or altered everything my ex was to do. Now I have a court order that gives him everything he wanted, and all of my wishes were left out or wording altered to mean something else. My attorney is filing to have the judge look at the order and see if they will agree to revise it. My question is has anyone else delt with this and if so what was the outcome? Should I abide by our agreement that we entered into record with the court or the one his attorney submitted in the mean time? Oh by the way South Carolina law gives the attorney 30 days to submit the final order, and he waited 4 months!!!!I know what I need to do and am doing it, but just looking for someone who has delt with this, and wondering what their outcome was. Today while my boyfriend and I were having sex, i felt him penetrate me really deep. It was painful at the moment but it wasnt severe. Dear Christians, does the Devil or demons incite one to sin and doubt the lord or is some of it human nature? I get the feeling there is a bad spirit around me since I don't believe in ghosts I assume this spirit is some sort of demon. Sulcata Tortoise with VERY soft shell HELP !?

I have 2 sulcata tortoises, about a month or 2 ago I noticed they were getting alittle soft, so I bought so calcium. One of the tortoises is fine now, nice and firm shell. The other one . . .has gotten worse !!! The shell is sooo soft on the sides and the underside !! I sprinkle the calcium on his food, and I give him time outside so I dont know why he wont firm up !! I feel so depressed help?

okay so I've been feeli'n very depressed lately, because my mom has a back-bone problem known as "slip-disk" this means that she can't bend or either carry anythng heavy anymore.which in other word means that I have to do lots of house works (that includes cooking)! on the other hand my whole family is going through a huge financial problem right now. Ok, 7 days ago I bought 3 red wag platties. They are in a tank with 1 male blue neon dwarf gourami, 3 rainbow plattys, shrimp and albino bristlenose plecos. UnfortAnatly, 2 of the red wag plattys (1 male and 1 of the females) are not doing so well and from my experience I am gunna say that they aren't going to make it. So at petco I saw a orange one that has olblack dots and kindof look like a orange cupcake with black and a few other colored sprinkles. I want those and some sort of yellow platty. So my question is, will the 1 female redwag platty be fine As the only only of her kind and with 3 yellow wag platty, the orange ones, and the blue rainbow plattys? Obama still seems to be in perpetual campaign mode and NEVER in any kind of leadership mode. He likes to make a great speech about something and then pawn everything off on someone else while he goes golfing far away from the fray.He pawned the stimulus and Obamacare off on Pelosi, and pawned the debt crisis off on Biden. He submitted a joke of a budget a few months ago, and then didn't even try to come back and defend it except a couple of very vague speeches in which he mumbled something about raising taxes. Obama should be focused 100% on our economic crisis, and should be on TV outlining his plan (which it is clear that he doesn't even have). Instead, he waits for the GOP to actually come up with a plan, then only comes on TV to demagogue it to death with lies and half truths while never offering an alternative. This demonstrates a COMPLETE lack of leadership! Even Jimmy Carter at least TRIED to do something. Obama won't even do that. he just goes golfing which is a slap in the face to the rest of us who are struggling.

I shot firearms for years without ear protection, and still hear very well. When I started shooting ear protection was not a big deal. As I got older and somewhat wiser I started using ear protection, and now I hate to shoot without ear protection. When hunting I don't wear ear protection, but always wear ear protection on the range. So to answer your question, the few rounds you fired without ear protection is not going to make you have to wear hearing aids early in life.

After I tried every carpet fresh on the market, nothing helped. After some research I found that baking soda takes the smell out. I sprinkled it on my carpet last night and woke up this morning to a completely FRESH living room. Apparently it works on all types of odors. I thought it was just for the fridge! I dont know what the "heart testing machine". Did you mean they took an ECG? (Electrocardiogram, by placing the electrodes on left side of your chest, wrists, and on your feet? ECG cannot always detect a heart problem at a resting stage. You must see another doctor and get through a TMT (Tread mill test) which will determine if you have any ischaemic heart issues - lack of blood supply to your heart. Some of the symptoms you mentions like pain in the stomach area (this should be just below the sternum, central bone of your rib cage running from below your chin to stomach area), and pain on the shoulder etc. Do not rely on just one simple test, and go for further checks before you rule out. A good cardiologist should rule out heart problems, and then you may have to see another doc to see if you have any acidity related problems. Sometimes even gas build up in the stomach can cause severe pain on the left side of the stomach below or around the left part of the rib cage...

Last night I released ladybugs on my potted plants to eat some pests that have been damaging my flowers. On one flower pot they're super active, crawling all over the place. BCBS told me that they DID cover a certain procedure ( not pre-existing malady ) and so I went forward with procedure. They paid the claim. I then had same procedure done a second time and submitted 2nd claim. BCBS said 'oh, we don't cover that......... I said 'yes you do, you told me that you did and you covered it 3 months ago'....... they said 'whoops, mistake, give us our money back'. Can they do that ? Thieves. Totally. Long Story: My girlfriend's grandmother has lived next to an empty lot (a little over an acre) for 20 years, with no problems. The neighbors on the other side mowed the lawn and neighborhood children played in it. The last few months as the weather warmed teens who did not live in the neighborhood have been congregating there late at night. It wasn't a problem initially as they were quiet and respectful of the neighbors (mostly elderly). Recently more and more teens have been showing up, leaving broken beer bottles, lighting small fires, and harassing neighbors who politely ask them to be quieter. For the past two weeks police have been called repeatedly by various neighbors. Although there have been a few arrests for underage drinking/possession of pot/etc., most just scatter when they see police, jumping fences and running though yards before reconvening when police leave. Sunday her neighbors are going to clean the lot and mow the lawn so the children can play there again. My girlfriends father and I are going to be there to install motion detecting floodlights on her and the other neighbors house but I have a feeling they will be broken quickly now that school is letting out. So, I am looking for something that I could repeatedly sprinkle or place in certain areas of the lot that would make a terrible smell for a few hours (neighbors all use central air religiously). It shouldn't hurt the soil or grass (its very close to a river), can be cleaned up easily or biodegrade quickly, and that shouldn't be a problem for children if they were to touch a small amount.
